How to Add Asian Influences to your Home Decor
May 12, 2017 • By Kellie SmithRecently, my business parter at Boho Luxe Home took off to Japan!
Yes, she left me behind.
Her trip photos made me start thinking about how much I love Asian influence in design.
From the colours, textures, patterns and more, Asian decor is intricate and beautiful.
Here’s some easy ideas on how to incorporate Asian Influences to your Home Décor.
Asian Lighting
Lighting can make or break the look of your interior, remember this post about lighting.
Stylish hanging paper lanterns, sculptural lighting installations and a few carefully placed candles go a long way in creating a home inspired by the Far East!
Add in Chinoiserie
A French word that means “in the Chinese taste”
The term describes a European style of decorative ornamentation that was wildly popular in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and is just as beautiful today.
Use Colourful Accent Pieces

Create a Zen-Like Space
A calm, zen-like space is exactly what Asian decor embodies.
The Buddha
No matter the face of the Buddha you like the most, his presence always represents a certain tranquility.

Bring Nature Indoors
If you’re lucky enough to have a bathroom like the one pictured below, I’m coming over!
If not, you can easily add Asian inspired house plants to bring nature indoors.
Pop in the Pillows
Pillow changes are a simple way to change out decor.
And aren’t those art pieces amazing?
Really Serious? Include a Water Feature
If you really want to increase the Asian influence in your home, add a calming water feature to your outdoor space or garden area, you could also lean to greenhouse which would add a really nice touch to your home. After I searched for Asian gardens I really want myself one now.
Add Asian Inspired Furniture Pieces
You all know that I’m a furniture hoarder – so of course I love Asian influenced furniture.
Bring out those pretty pieces and if you have any furniture that needs a makeover, holler at your girl and get your hands on some Velvet Finishes!
That’s all the Asian I’ve got for you guys today.
Will you be incorporating any Asian decor into your home?

Very interesting and pleasing design ideas. Thanks.
Paper lanterns are just amazing with any decor. They symbolize so many aspects of the Far East. Love the minimalist touches too. Thanks Kellie.
