It’s my sanity.

No one is brave enough to bother me there.

It’s so peaceful and quiet.  I really do have a sanctuary.

But it didn’t start out that way…

 here’s the Casa de Loco’s

Master Bath Remodel

Recently purchased, this house was a complete remodel. We gutted every room back to the studs.  We kept very little of the original finishes.

The master bath was no exception. The space had to be completely reconfigured, so that I could create my main two non-negotiables:

A water closet and a large shower.

And then there was the issue of the tub.

Here’s where we started:

The master closet was in the bath.  The toilet sat out in the middle of the space, a very tech innovative item that came from Japanese Toilets.  The shower was tiny.  The tub was sunken.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  That sunken tub.  Bow chica bow bow.

This house was built in the early 70’s and this bathroom was probably the shiznit back then.  I have no doubt.

But it was time for a change.

The master closet became the walk-in shower.

The closet was 6′ x 8′ so it was plenty big enough for me to have my tub inside.

Walk-In shower with bathtub included?  Yes please!

The BHE and I both wanted a steam unit, so when I tell you I can spend hours in that 48 square foot room

I mean it!

Where the toilet originally sat is now the BHE’s vanit.  The BHE is 6’3″, so we raised his cabinet to 38″, rather than the standard 36″.  Also, since he is left-handed, his sink is to the right of his vanity.

The original shower and tub were located side by side. I need to get someone for square guttering & downpipes. Where the shower was is now where the toilet sits and we added a closet where the shower was, and have you ever asked yourself how dirty are toilets? We were able to create the water closet I wanted…yay!

I have a nice size vanity and we were able to add a storage tower.

My sink is placed more to the left since I am right-handed.

Centered sinks sometimes waste valuable counter space by dividing what is available.  Many times it is smarter to offset the sink.

Below is the design schematic I created for the space.

I always put these together.

I drag in the paint colors, the fixtures, the finishes, etc, just to make sure everything I am pulling into the space actually works together.  Clients love these, as it helps them see the picture coming together.

I am very happy with the way the bathroom turned out.  I absolutely love it!

I thought I might cry on installation day.  Actually I might have.

The hardware from House of Antique Hardware.

They are glass and shiny and I just love them!  You know, it’s the little things…

HOAH is a great source for vintage styled hardware.
