Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour Part 2

Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour

Part Two

Welcome to our second post for the Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour!

Nine bloggers are sharing their holiday and home decor.  Just for you!!

Come along with me and tour the Merry and Bright Christmas Home Tour! Nine bloggers, nine fabulous inspirations!

If you are popping over from Elaine’s OMG Lifestyle blog, thank you so much!

And welcome everyone!

I’ve had fun getting more Christmas decorating done this past week and also I’ve been learning about strollers.

I’ve actually gotten into the holiday spirit!

Sounds crazy to most but being ‘in the spirit’ is not so easy for me.  Before I went into design full time, I was in retail and also I used to spend my time playing a lot of video games with services from ElitistGaming.

For decades.

I’m not going to go into all the gory, whiny details of my former life but I will simply sum it to say that being in retail forever changes your relationship to the fourth quarter of the year Christmas.

But this year…this year…. I have found a little spark.  Thanks to being involved with the Holiday Home Tour, I’m finding my groove a bit.

I’ve even already started Christmas shopping!!!!!!!!

Nothing is wrapped – but come on people – baby steps!

This week I would like to share my dining room, living room tree and front porch with you guys.

As you know, the Casa de Loco is a mid-century home, but in the dining room, I used more traditional pieces.  Some of the touches are modern but dining rooms are all about traditions to me.  So, for my design mind, I like to have an eclectic mix of vintage, antiques and a dash of modern.  I also like a dining room to have a glamorous touch.

dining

I find it beautiful to mix china.  As with home decor, I really feel if you buy what you love, it will always work together.

The table is set with round peacock feather placemats, Spode Woodland china layered with inexpensive plaid salad plates purchased from One King’s Lane.

I used my vintage set of flatware that is wood and gold.  It’s a very old set that I believe came from Thailand.  It’s super cool and I really like the global feel that it adds.

The napkins are brand new.  I absolutely love them!  I selected the malachite fabric from Loom Decor because it is the same fabric as my captains chairs.  I do love all things malachite!

Loom Decor is great, if you need drapes, pillows, napkins or tablecloths, you really need to check them out.

The chargers and the green wine glasses came from a local thrift shop where I found sets of 8 in each.  The chargers were $1 and the wine glasses were $1.99 each.  SCORE!!!!

I added little boxes of dark chocolate with tags to double as place cards.

The center of the table is filled with greenery, candles, feathers, ornaments, moss balls…everything I had left over.

It’s a little full but eating a little glitter never killed anyone.  So what if it gets on a plate or two, right?

I pulled the peacock feather into the dining room because my large tree is filled with the beautiful blues, purples, blacks and greens of peacock feathers.

A vintage wool blanket serves as a tree skirt.

I notice that you are noticing there are no gifts.

I’m workin’ on it…

And a proud and beautiful life-sized peacock is nestled in the branches.

I edited in some gifts for the tree…it looks better now.

living with gifts

Hahahahahahaha!!

Or should I say…

Fa la la la la la la la la la la la?!?

In keeping with the mid-century feel, I use square wreaths on the front doors.

I told you guys, I’m not very normal with the Christmas decor.

porch 2

The wreaths are preserved boxwoods.

I added a new piece this year to the porch.  I’ve yet to name her.

I fancied her up with a gorgeous wreath and added berries, feathers, and of course, some glittery pieces.

porch 1

She is quite fantastic!

But did you notice that she reads

Merry and Bright

on the base?

Candi at Welcoming Walls has a delightful store on Etsy.

The vinyl wall decor was perfect for our

Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour!

I could have used it 100 different places around the house but I thought it was just perfect on the statue.

The vinyl was super easy to apply.  Honestly, I was a little surprised by that.  I really thought it would be kind of hard to apply but it wasn’t at all.

Candi has over 150 designs on her site but if you don’t find the perfect one, or want a custom monogram made, she’s your girl.  I’m pretty sure she can create just about anything you would want.

Thanks so much for joining me on my Holiday Home Tour!

If you missed my Part 1, you can check it out here.  I shared the kids trees last week.

Be sure to head on over and visit Debbie at Refresh Restyle.  You are going to love her decor!

After that, visit all the fabulous bloggers on the tour…

Enjoy!

Kellie, I’m waiting on my dinner invite so that I may sit in this awesome space. You have a few weeks to get it in the mail. I love the layering effect on your place setting and plaid is my passion. This space is cozier than a winter blanket. Your chandelier is stunning. You are one funny chic with those gifts. Lol for REAL! Thanks for sharing.
