Decorating with Green. It’s Not Just for Leprechauns.
You guys know me by now.
I like color.
I like ALL colors.
Sure I gravitate to some colors more than others, but every color has it’s place in my heart.
And that’s why I believe
Decorating with Green is not just for Leprechauns!
When I remodeled Casa de Loco several years ago I used a beloved piece of art, that I inherited, as my jumping off point. I pulled the colors from this piece and weaved them throughout the house.
The fact that the Casa is mid century modern architecture and that this art screams Loco, well let’s just say it set the tone.
Come in the front door and you are met with the green and blue face of Richard Nixon and a vintage wingback.
The chair was my grandparent’s and still has it’s gorgeous original upholstery.
AS for the living room, I worked the entire room around the green velvet bench that once sat at the foot of my grandparent’s bed. I pulled the other colors from the art piece in the foyer and splashed them around the room as well.
Told you, it’s a little crazy!
Yes, my sofa is graffittied.
In the dining room, you will find lots of green. I bought the Captain’s chairs at Scott Antique Market in Atlanta. Lance and David of Parker-Kennedy Living had already had them high glossed and upholstered in one of my favorite fabrics – malachite in a rich green. They were actually the first pieces I purchased for Casa de Loco. The side chairs came from One King’s Lane and I had them upholstered in a beautiful green velvet.
The BHE had the purchased the art piece from an outdoor art festival long before I knew him. It fit in perfectly.
I love that malachite fabric so much I had napkins made from Loom Decor for the holidays. They really made the table setting gorgeous!!
You can read about the Casa de Loco Christmas tour here, here and here. You know because, it’s March and, you want to read about Christmas.
Even though my kitchen is black and white, I managed to sprinkle in a little green.
If you missed the kitchen remodel story you can read about it here.
But in the breakfast nook, I used the same green velvet fabric, as in the dining room, to upholster the Platner chairs seats.
A custom made rug from solid green carpet was made for the den. I also found a fabulous lamp with a green marbled shade.
Now here’s where it gets crazy.
I have never even shared pictures of this because it photographs so poorly. But for this post – it was a must!
My hallway is green.
Like bold and bright Sherwin-Williams 6734 Espalier Green.
Yeah. I did.
This (blurry, sorry) pic is looking into Moto Boy’s room.
On the other side of the dresser is Rider Girl’s room.
I suppose this pic was made at Christmas because I see a Christmas tree in her room!
Wowzer, right? I don’t call this place Casa de Loco for nothing!!
As you can tell, not only do I love all colors, I really seem to love green.
So channel your inner leprechaun and bring some vibrant green into your home!

(It seems that the Leprechauns have taken over this post because the links to other blogger’s home tours + décor ARE WORKING even though they appear as broken links. I told y’all things get crazy here at the asylum! Sorry for the confusion.)

I always enjoy “being” in your home! That table setting is genius. Love all of the color, patterns, and textures going on and hearing about the pieces that came from your family. I have quite a bit of furniture and art from my grandparents in storage that I can’t wait to get my hands on when we move back from Japan. They tell such a great story!
Kathy thank you! I love having the pieces from my family and the story they tell. So glad you have that waiting for you when you return to the States! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog!!

And while it won’t work in my “cabin in the woods type of up-north” home, I certainly appreciate your look. Fantastic and entertaining…pardon me while I snoop around now…
Meghan!! So glad to have here at the Asylum!! It’s definitely a little crazy! (-: Hehee….
